Definition of Carbon

Carbon n. means: An elementary substance, not metallic in its nature, which is present in all organic compounds. Atomic weight 11.97. Symbol C. it is combustible, and forms the base of lampblack and charcoal, and enters largely into mineral coals. In its pure crystallized state it constitutes the diamond, the hardest of known substances, occuring in monometric crystals like the octahedron, etc. Another modification is graphite, or blacklead, and in this it is soft, and occurs in hexagonal prisms or tables. When united with oxygen it forms carbon dioxide, commonly called carbonic acid, or carbonic oxide, according to the proportions of the oxygen; when united with hydrogen, it forms various compounds called hydrocarbons. Compare Diamond, and Graphite.

Carbonometer (n.): An instrument for detecting and measuring the amount of carbon which is present, or more esp. the amount of carbon dioxide, by its action on limewater or by other means.

Normal (a.): Denoting that series of hydrocarbons in which no carbon atom is united with more than two other carbon atoms; as, normal pentane, hexane, etc. Cf. Iso-.

Neo- (): A prefix meaning new, recent, late; and in chemistry designating specifically that variety of metameric hydrocarbons which, when the name was applied, had been recently classified, and in which at least one carbon atom in connected directly with four other carbon atoms; -- contrasted with normal and iso-; as, neopentane; the neoparaffins. Steel (n.): A variety of iron intermediate in composition and properties between wrought iron and cast iron (containing between one half of one per cent and one and a half per cent of carbon), and consisting of an alloy of iron with an iron carbide. Steel, unlike wrought iron, can be tempered, and retains magnetism. Its malleability decreases, and fusibility increases, with an increase in carbon.

Silicon (n.): A nonmetalic element analogous to carbon. It always occurs combined in nature, and is artificially obtained in the free state, usually as a dark brown amorphous powder, or as a dark crystalline substance with a meetallic luster. Its oxide is silica, or common quartz, and in this form, or as silicates, it is, next to oxygen, the most abundant element of the earth's crust. Silicon is characteristically the element of the mineral kingdom, as carbon is of the organic world. Symbol Si. Atomic weight 28. Called also silicium.

Description: Mad Coast Clothing is a women owned company founded in 2017 by two moms who wanted to see their kids in fun comfy clothes without spending a fortune. With a background in basic graphic design & printing, we launched our online t-shirt store July 4th weekend in 2017. There are a lot of generic and corny kids gear out there and we want to portray our love of the outdoors, adventure, travel, funny vibes through our children’s clothing store. We like our toddlers and babies to wear shirts that we would. We also want to have a local presence in our communities of Santa Cruz and Rochester (there are limited options of Rochester themed baby clothes, especially organic baby clothes and t-shirts!) We want to create designs that can be worn by families that are also on trend and cool.

Products – Mad Coast Clothing t-shirt store carries a variety of clothing including baby boy onsies, organic cotton baby clothes, mommy and baby girl matching outfits, trendy baby clothes, cool clothes for boys, hipster baby clothes and more. Visit our online t-shirt store to view our entire product line.

Organic – living on Lake Ontario and the Pacific Ocean, we are aware of our surroundings and how fragile they are. Organic baby clothing lowers our carbon footprint by using organic and recylced fabrics that are not only eco-friendly but also stylish and comfortable. Organic cotton clothing is free of pesticides and harmful substances and help to reduce the chance of irritated skin in babies.
Donations – we love being involved in raising money through tshirt sales. We raised $1500 for the Virgin Islands after Hurrican Irma and would love to eventually have a monthly or yearly donation to some charity/charities *down the road, we are not doing this now*
