Ambrein means: A fragrant substance which is the chief constituent of ambergris.
Ambrosin means: An early coin struck by the dukes of Milan, and bearing the figure of St. Ambrose on horseback.
Amidin means: Start modified by heat so as to become a transparent mass, like horn. It is soluble in cold water.
Amygdalin means: A glucoside extracted from bitter almonds as a white, crystalline substance.
Anchusin means: A resinoid coloring matter obtained from alkanet root.
Anemonin means: An acrid, poisonous, crystallizable substance, obtained from some species of anemone.
Anthocyanin means: Same as Anthokyan.
Antiarin means: A poisonous principle obtained from antiar.
Antitoxin means: Alt. of Antitoxine
Apocynin means: A bitter principle obtained from the dogbane (Apocynum cannabinum).
Zygodactylae means: The zygodactylous birds. In a restricted sense applied to a division of birds which includes the barbets, toucans, honey guides, and other related birds.
